FIRST WORD "Come to Me"

June 28, 2025

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

It was an amazing week at church this past week with our Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. We were more than a little nervous as we only had three registered a week prior, but the Lord answered our prayers and provided 18 kids total that attended. Praise God! It takes time to build up a program that is new, something that hasn’t been done for years. We definitely have room to grow, but this was a wonderful start.

This VBS was something new in many ways. Under the tireless direction of Kaitlyn Hallett, we pulled together people and resources from all the other ministries onsite! For example, Pastor Jeremy from The Light WPB led the opening and closing rallies like a professional music DJ and revival preacher. David Killian from Youth For Christ, was an expert in managing and ministering to the youth, leading his small group to work together in the games, building excitement, teamwork and faith, all at the same time. Patty Krauss brought the daily Bible lessons to life with fish nets, clouds, and even flames of fire! Raj Rai helped build the backdrop for our set with colorful decorations, mixing different textures and special lighting. Our snack team made the food not only taste delicious, but look appetizing and playful. The list goes on and on.

Our VBS was in the evenings, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, making it possible for us to have a lot of volunteers. It worked! 28 people volunteered in various ways to make it all a success. Thank you, everyone! We often worry about being short of volunteers, but not this time!

Our investment for the week was about $2000 – curriculum, food, decorations, costumes, supplies and T-shirts. We also had donations in materials, cash, and time. Looking back, every step of this process was a miracle – from beginning to end! Thank you Jesus, for answering our prayers. We learned a lot from this year and look forward to an even better program next year. Thank you for all your prayers, care, and support.

For a video summary of the week, go to the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/ShOXVTdJL5o We will be sharing it in worship this Sunday and recognizing the kids and volunteers.

We’re also excited to hear from our new choir this Sunday, under the direction of Sandra Baran. Next Sunday, don’t forget to wear red, white, and blue, and be prepared for a lot of guests, parents, as the Grace Notes Summer String Camp will help lead our worship with some of the music they have been practicing. Their camp began last Monday and things are going wonderfully. Remember to come to their concert on July 19th at 6:00 p.m. (Not 6:30)

In Christ;
Pastor Dan
